Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Data Note

Data notes present smaller or larger datasets. These datasets must have been publicly archived, so that it can be guaranteed that they can be found and used by readers.

Data notes do not have a fixed number of sections.

Data notes will be reviewed for consistency and textual clarity by the editorial team.

Code Presentation

Code presentations present recent coding solutions that were published independently in the form of software packages or software libraries.

Code presentations will be reviewed by the editorial board for consistency and clarity of the description.

Tutorial

Tutorials illustrate how certain problems in Science can be solved.

Tutorials will be reviewed for consistency and clarity of the text by the editorial team.

Review

Reviews summarize what we know about certain phenomena, how we model them scientifically, and how they have been discussed and handled in scientific research so far.

Reviews are reviewed by the editorial board and checked for clarity of writing and suitability of content.

Projects

Projects refer to studies that present research project and summarize either their major results, or their major goals.
